Smooth Agent Records is proud to finally release “Horizon” by one of the biggest names in dance music Roy Davis Jr. Mr. Davis started doing production in the late 80’s with the Chicago based group Phuture who were responsible for the start of the acid house phenomenon with the track “Acid Track” released on trax records. As a solo artist in the 90’s Davis went on to produce some of house music’s biggest hits with Peven Everet on “Gabriel” released on Large records and “Watch them Come” on Davis’s own label “Underground Therapy Muzik.

The vocalist featured is Terry Dexter who has worked with Mr. Davis in the past on his “Chicago Forever” on Ubiquity Records. Ms. Dexter also has released an album of her own titled “Terry Dexter” featuring the R&B charted single “Better Than Me” released on Warner Bros. Ms. Dexter has also worked with other artist’s such as Will I Am, Jaheim, Eric Benet & Joe Cocker. On “Horizon” Ms. Dexter delivers a strong & uplifting message that there will be better things over the horizon to come. “You have to let the storm pass you by and you will see better days”.

"Mix Tape Chronicles" on SizzledChicago.com

Everyone has a favorite, if not an inspirational music mix. Some of my tapes contain elements that continue to inspire me after 13 years. The Mix Tape Chronicles is a monthly column by myself (Bai-ee), carried on sizzledchicago.com, where we happily recognize, explore and link you to self-proclaimed classic mix tapes from yester-year.

Every months this column will make available a different classic music mix, ultimately hosting mixes that exist outside of any one generations bubble and in essence presenting favorites not widely recognized or available.

These monthly chronicles will aim to present content across a spectrum of time-lines, formats, and genres. Though there are many established and well known mix tapes to acknowledge (and readily available on archival sites), “The Mix Tape Chronicles” will showcase the more obscure, and present them through the perspective of varying contributors.

Read the column in its entirety and download this months featured mix MTC 001 "STAR TRAXX" here!

SAR Airing Weekly on myhouse-yourhouse.net!

Smooth Agent Records is taking up weekly Monday afternoon responsibilities on myhouse-yourhouse.net (broadcasting from 2pm-4pm Central). Were really excited to be a part of the MHYH family and look forward to adding to the excellent broadcast content.

Expect exclusive mixes / edits and remixes, along with rare grooves and classic production that's helped to influence SAR's passion for House Music. We'll kick things off Monday 1/12/09 by introducing ourselves (Sean Smith and Bai-ee) through a couple of personal music mixes that I think you'll find proper on a Monday. Going forward we'll present mixes by a range of artists (some you'll know and some you may not), but all will be a note able contributor to this thing we call House...

More information will be posted in this thread from week to week if not on this Blog.

Sean Smith feat. J.L. from BSTC Coming Soon!

This release (due out sometime around the first of the year), comes with much anticipation... Marking SAR's 2oth release, it is only proper that Label head Sean Smith treads new waters by showcasing his first vocal release, featuring the smooth R&B-style singing of one JL, from Chicago-based jazz-funk outfit, BSTC (aka The Black Stone Theater Collective).

We believe this will be a strong follow up to the Dajae release. A spectrum of well known Chicago based artists will be working on the project, so expect that premium Deep Vocal House sound SAR has come to be known for, along with a collection of quality dub, peak hour and "loft appropriate" remixes.

Again, SAR is VERY excited to release this project, stay tuned for updates!
